outreach

Dew Yoga is motivated by and committed to community service through several outreach initiatives that make Yoga and enrichment programs accessible to all.

  • Karma Donation Classes - Held weekly, no fees. Students are welcome to bring a donation but none is required. See the wishlist for suggestions.

  • Sliding Scale Class Cards, Karma Recipient spaces in Workshops and Events and Sponsored Class Cards are made available through donations, individual and business sponsorships.

  • If you can not afford Yoga due to a financial or medical hardship, please contact Jen to obtain a low or no cost class card. All Karma Recipients and sponsors are kept anonymous and confidential.

  • Our donation classes benefit Domus Foundation and The Center - Sexual Assault Crisis and Education Center.

  • Several fundraising events each year will directly and 100% benefit a local or global cause. For example, in January of 2010, Dew Yoga held a three day all donation weekend of Yoga to support relief efforts in Haiti through Save the Children. Read about the event here.

  • Offsite events include volunteer teaching for various groups. In the past, The Girl Scout Jamboree, Hawk Watch, Dolan Middle School, Eastside Fair.  

Build-on Fundraiser Day

Great Seva in action on Sunday, June 13th we had all donation Yoga, Massage and Music to support buildOn. We raised $1,126.00 of which every dollar will be used to purchase construction supplies for a new school. 

Thank you to generous donors for items to raffle off, Angela Cosmai of Angela Cosmai Salon, Tom Grady of New Wave Seafood, as well as Melinda Loo who offered chair massage and donated all the proceeds to buildOn. 

Lucky raffle winners; Kalindi Devi, Annette Cocco and Susan Wegner took home prizes from New Wave Seafood, Angela Cosmai Salon and Dew Yoga.  Congratulations and thanks to all who participated!

At the Annex Iyengar Yoga to heal your back with Silvana

This is an alignment-based Yoga practice to support the healing and treatment of common back and spinal problems including scoliosis, arthritis, bulging discs, spinal fusions, muscle spasms, recovery from surgery, spondylosis, and more. This class is limited to 6 students for individual attention and adjustments. You must register in advance by email to info@dewyoga.net

Kundalini Yoga with Jackie

Kundalini Yoga is total fitness for body, mind and spirit. Through breathing, movement, stretching, meditation, relaxation and sound, Kundalini Yoga systematically raises and strengthens your vital energy. No prior experience is needed for you to begin to experience benefits almost immediately.

At the Annex Moderate Vinyasa with Connie

A moderately paced flowing yoga class with instruction and options for more experienced students. ***This class is at the Annex @ Yoga Space, 845 Canal Street.

Open Level Kripalu with Robert

This class is open to students of all experiences. Instructors teach to the "middle" of the room, meaning instruction is offered when needed for beginners, and variations and options are offered to more experienced students. Kripalu is the Yoga of compassion.

12:30pm - 1:30pm
At the Annex Open Level Lunch Yoga with Alison

A Kripalu-based, open level class incorporating breath, movement, flow and deep release. This class welcomes all levels to nourish mind, body and soul in a one hour format. ***This class is at the Annex @ Yoga Space, 845 Canal Street.

4:00pm - 5:15pm
Open Level with Jeff

This class is open to students of all experiences. Instructors teach to the "middle" of the room, meaning instruction is offered when needed for beginners, and variations and options are offered to more experienced students.

5:30pm - 6:45pm
At the Annex Open Level Vinyasa Flow with Lissa

Vinyasa means movement bound to breath. This class flows through postures but instructors will pause the flow when instruction is needed. ***This class is at the Annex @ Yoga Space, 845 Canal Street.

5:45pm - 7:00pm
Vigorous Vinyasa with Lyn

Challenging union of breath and movement. Some Yoga experience is assumed by the teacher and general level of fitness is expected.

7:15pm - 8:30pm
Beginner's Yoga with Dale

Appropriate for those new to the practice, returning after a time away, recovering from an injury, or just looking to get back to basics. Instruction and modification will be provided on postures, breathing, and relaxation.

Yoga Unveiled: Evolution and Essence of a Spiritual Tradition. Yoga Unveiled reveals how yoga began and tells the story of its passage to the West. This groundbreaking documentary describes yoga's numerous branches, recounts the fascinating biographies of the foremost yoga masters, and explored yoga's astonishing medical potential. Featured in the film are B.K.S. Iyengar, Georg Feuerstein, T.K.V. Desikachar, Krishna Das, Dr. Oz, and more! Dress comfortably, bring a snack. All are welcome. This event is by donation. Suggested amount is $5-10 per person, but any amount is appreciated. PLUS - Henna Art to Adorn your body by Manju Designs from $8 and up.

6.9.2013 - Absolute Beginners Workshop with Jen

For beginners or those returning to practice after a time away this two hour class will prepare you to feel comfortable dropping into any level class on the schedule.
